Mercedes electric cars go flat

Ah, good old Mercedes. Quality engineering, high-performance brand of note, electric greenwashers extraordinaire (eh? greenwashers you say, pray tell)

Sustainability platform WhereFrom has questioned their credentials in a quite brilliant parody of Mercedes's original 'Nature or Nothing' campaign

In fairness, the Mercedes ads for their electric cars are elegant and simple - using some beautiful natural images to ape the famous 3-pronged logo. But the counter-campaign is pretty Impactful in its own right, replacing the strapline 'nature or nothing' with 'climate change is already here' and replacing the images with those of famine, drought and fire

Mercedes have since come out with the classic 'we didn't approve the images globally' reputation damage limitation to distance themselves. Oh, how we laughed.

Crystal ball is in fact correct

Whilst none of us have a crystal ball, apart from Mystic Meg obvs. These 2022 trends from CAFOnline were pretty spot on. And yes, while a reasonably switched-on person could ascertain inflation was going to be an issue this year, the below give a good overview of the direction of travel for some key topics.

We'll say less about our predictions for Luton Town's promotion to the Premier League, the return of Hanson and thought-controlled pitch decks. PS that Monkey is still terrifying us

TLDR;

  • Ongoing pandemic effects - from WFH (and the newer WFG) to the great resignation, this one will run.

  • Inflation affecting funding - input costs increase affecting the price of products and services (have you seen how much digital development salaries have increased? - we have)

  • Changes to funder behaviour - not necessarily in a bad way, less restricted funding, potentially more options

  • Cybersecurity threats - more remote working, less ability to control IT, softer targets, more attacks

  • Trust - in a positive way, more trust from the public for charities and non-profits could result in increases all round in funding and donations.

Tweet of the day. Pedants can f*ck right off

Web 3.0 dictionary: A 101 for non-techies( i.e me and you)

You: need to look smart when you get asked about the metaverse/crypto/NFTs in your next board meeting. We: WAGMI (if you dont know what that means, you're in the right place :)

Play-to-earn (Play2Earn) This is pretty self-explanatory, play video games, typically in the Metaverse (or at least it's current early versions) and get paid to do it. In-game assets are the usual currency to be earned, which can be cashed out to the real world - i.e for actual money.

An example is Axie Infinity. Axies are animals that can be acquired, bred and put into battle to win a reward. Each of these is a non-fungible token (NFT), meaning it's a unique digital collectable. (DYOR please - not investment advice!)

Idea for orgs: Partner with an up-and-coming pre-launch game, create 'for-good' objects to be included in the game with links out to your initiatives.

How to use: I got my bag before Axie crashed. P2E is so 2022
